Therapy Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Therapy frequently asked questions

What can I expect in a therapy session?

In therapy, you can expect a safe, confidential space where we’ll work together to explore your challenges, process emotions, and develop strategies for growth. Whether we’re addressing grief, family tensions, cultural struggles, or other concerns, the goal is to help you feel heard, supported, and empowered. Our work will be tailored to your unique needs, and you’ll always have an active role in the process.

How does virtual therapy work?

Virtual therapy sessions are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform, ensuring your privacy and confidentiality. All you need is a device with a camera, microphone, and a reliable internet connection. I’ll send you a link to join the session at your scheduled time, no technical expertise required!

Is virtual therapy as effective as in-person therapy?

Yes! Research shows that virtual therapy can be just as effective as in-person sessions for addressing concerns like grief, trauma, anxiety, and family conflict. The key to success is building a strong therapeutic connection, which can happen just as effectively in an online space. Many clients find that virtual therapy offers unique benefits, especially in terms of convenience and comfort.

What if I have technical difficulties during a session?

Technology can sometimes be unpredictable, but don’t worry, we’ll troubleshoot together if any issues arise. If needed, we can switch to a phone session or reschedule to ensure you receive the support you need.

What are your fees?

  • Initial Diagnostic Evaluation (First Session): $160 for a 75-minute session
  • Individual Psychotherapy: $140 for a 55-minute session
  • Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART): $185 for a 90-minute session

Do you accept insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider and do not work directly with insurance companies. However, I partner with Mentaya to help you easily submit claims for reimbursement. Mentaya handles the entire process for you, making it more convenient than a superbill.

What payment methods do you accept?

I accept credit cards, debit cards, FSA (Flexible Spending Account) cards, and HSA (Health Savings Account) cards.

Do you offer a reduced rate?

Yes, I offer a limited number of reduced-rate sessions upon request. You can request a Reduced Rate Application to determine eligibility.

What is your approach to therapy?

My approach is not a one-size-fits-all model. Instead, I use a collaborative, integrated style, drawing from several evidence-based practices to meet your specific needs. My goal is to give you a toolbox of skills to help you navigate life’s challenges.

My work is always trauma-informed. This means I prioritize creating a safe, trustworthy, and collaborative environment. I operate from an understanding of how trauma impacts a person’s life, and I’ll work with you at a pace that feels comfortable. The goal is to empower you and avoid re-traumatizing you in the therapeutic process.

How long will I be in therapy?

The length of therapy is always up to you. I would recommend a minimum of 3-6 months to establish a strong foundation for healing, but you are in control of the journey and we will work at a pace that feels right for you.

How do you work with grief and trauma?

My work is deeply rooted in grief counseling and trauma therapy. I focus on your personal experience and use evidence-based modalities that are proven to help you process and heal. We will work together to navigate your unique journey, whether you’re dealing with a significant loss or healing from past pain.

These therapy frequently asked questions and answers will help ease your anxiety about what to expect as you consider therapy.
